Provide Input on Principal Candidates for the New Montbello Comprehensive High School

Update from Regional Instructional Superintendents, Dr. Hudson and Dr. Charles

Thank you for your continued partnership in the principal-selection process so far. We are pleased to share that we have strong candidates who will participate in the final steps of the process for selecting the high school’s leader. 

We will follow up soon with more details about the hiring timeline for the middle school principal.

Community engagement is a vital part of principal selection in DPS, so we have adopted a virtual community-presentation process to allow the community to hear from our top candidates. This process will consist of the following:

• High school principal-finalist candidates have shared short video summaries of their vision for leading the high school and responded to questions generated through the School Principal Advisory Selection Committee (SPSAC).
• Community members can see these candidate presentations, question responses, and biographies on the DPS Reimagine Montbello webpage, beginning on Feb. 16. 
• We invite community members to submit feedback in a survey that will also be posted on the DPS Reimagine Montbello webpage on Feb. 16. This feedback will help inform the final hiring decision made by the superintendent.

Please share your feedback on the strengths and considerations of the candidates based on their presentations and the needs of Montbello High School. We also invite you to attend a Principal Candidate Community Forum to meet the finalists and learn more about them. It will be held from 6 – 8 p.m, Monday, Feb. 22. You can join the forum on Zoom. 

After the community-input window closes, feedback will be compiled to share with the interim superintendent to help inform the final selection of the leader for the new high school. Candidates will also participate in an interview with Interim Superintendent Dwight Jones and Deputy Superintendent of Schools Michael Ramirez as the final step in the selection process.
